Desmond Flower, as well as being the agent through whom the Baskerville punches came to Cambridge, is a student and collector of Voltaire's works.... This was one of the few pieces written in English by Voltaire and it had never been reprinted since his lifetime.... The paper was specially manufactured by Messrs W. & R. Balston of Maidstone, successors to the James Whatman who is credited with providing Baskerville with the first wove paper to be used in Europe." See: Crutchley, A Printer's Christmas Books, p. 27.
