Parts I and II of III only. 8vo. 9 1/4 x 6 1/8 inches. [iv], 297-353; [iv], 123-139 pp. Each volume with a frontispiece reproducing a manuscript page transcribed in the text; text clean, unmarked. Printed wrappers; binding square and tight. Fine. These two volumes offer transcripts of manuscript documents held by the Bancroft Library at the University of California, including a manuscript Constitution of the San Francisco Vigilance Committee, and a List of Names Approved by the Committee on Qualification, both 1851. Porter Garnett was an assistant curator at the Bancroft Library at the University of California from 1907 to 1912. With Gelett Burgess, Garnett was co-founder of The Lark (1895), and in 1922 became professor of graphic arts at the Carnegie Institute of Technology in Pittsburgh, where he founded the Laboratory Press.
