LIMITED EDITION of 25 numbered copies SIGNED by The Author and the Printer, this is number 10, out of a total edition of 28 copies. Square 8vo. 162 x 163 mm. Square 8vo. 48 pp. 19 poems, includes images of native California plants and the San Gabriel Mountains on double gatefold spreads which reflect view from the poet's porch where these poems were composed; text clean, un-marked. Full green cloth over boards with a window on the front cover that repeats the California wildflower design in the text, the text-blocks are sewn into a Bugra concertina; binding square and tight. Fine. Designed and hand-bound by Rebecca Chamlee with the text block sewn on ramie tapes into a Bugra concertina. Printed letter-press in Goudy Old Style, Futura wood type and photopolymer plates on Somerset Book Wove paper. Some of the poems in this book have appeared in the anthologies Nuova Poesia Americana, Intersection: Innovative Poetry in Southern California, and Poesia in Azione as well as in journals. These poems were written when Dennis Phillips was working on his novel Hope (2007); the poems are speculative, but ultimately optimistic version of the pastoral, examining humanity's place in the natural world.
