Printed wrappers; binding square and tight, toned. Very Good. Charles Peguy was a noted French poet, essayist, and editor born in Orleans. For many years a socialist, Peguy became a devout (if not a practicing) Roman Catholic about 1908. This work presents a "tapestry" of devotional meditations on the Virgin Mary. Printed by Joh. Enschede en Zonen in Haarlem. Peguy died at Villeroy, Seine-et-Marne during World War I, the day before the beginning of the Battle of the Marne.
